Following the fire and safety assessment that took place after the fire in the upstairs kitchen recommendations were made from the North Wales Fire Service that involved major upgrades to the fire and electrical systems at Llay Miners. Tenders for this work were put out and prices submitted. An application for funding was submitted to WREN and this proved to be successful with WREN confirming a grant of £28,678 towards overall costs of £34,000, this work will commence by the end of October 2011 and be completed by the end of the year.
