Loose weight and feel great!

If you are determined to get in shape after the festive excess, then we have the perfect opportunity for you. We have teamed up with Health Challenge Wales, to offer Welfare Members and The Llay residents Community Fit Club. We believe the the best way to lose weight and keep that weight off long term is through a simple combination of a healthy balanced diet and participating in regular physical activity. This is the sort of advice which most people already know, but many find it difficult to put into practice. On this programme we hope to show you how much fun it can be. As a member of Community Fit Club you can enjoy the benefits of great value activities at Llay Miners Welfare. You will also have access to a support structure with weekly weigh-ins, where you will learn about healthy eating from friendly experts who will also take you through a practical goal setting process and help you stay on target with those goals. Community Fit Club might feel like another slimming group, because you meet regularly and enjoy the regular weigh-ins and group support. Focus is on lifestyle skills such as goal setting, confidence building, portion control and time management.

History of Llay Welfare Cricket Club

The club was first founded in 1921 but did not play at the current pitch (The Ring) until the early 30’s but played at the Chain which was located opposite the Crown in Llay. The club has played in various leagues as follows:

  • Wrexham League, which was disbanded
  • Flintshire league in the early 70’s
  • NWCL at present.

Our first silverware in this league was in 1977 when we won the division 4.

Over the years we have had players play at County level and in the past 10 years we hosted County games at the Ring.
